THE RECORD REVIEWS SECTION
On this page, I will review whatever I deem necessary. Very soon, though, each musical genre will have its own reviews page. Currently, if you would like a review to feature on this page, then please feel free to E-mail me your reviews. But please, please do not copy your review directly out of a magazine, the chances are that I will realise.
Loop da loop:- Miracle maker
Wow, what a tune!!!. The beats on this record sound very Fatboy Slim esque. The tune has limited lyrics, but they are truly energetic. They are of a bloke saying something about "MC undertaker", then filtration is used with a lovely hook of the same fella, saying "I'm comin' Back" repeatadly. This really is one of the tunes of the moment. And hopefully it will be picked up by a major label, such as Judge Jules' Manifesto, who strangely enough picked up loop da loop's last release, the stetsasonic sampling "Hazel". This really does come recommended.
The wiseguys:- Ooh la laa
You must have heard this by now, it's the music from the "Bud" advert. This was released last year, but went un-noticed, right until now, when bud decided to shove it on their advert. This is Big Beat at its best, simple but very effective. It starts out with a guy sing "ooh la laa...", and ends with the same. with part of the way through, there is a simple but effective guy chanting "Turn it up/out, Without a doubt", with loads of kids repeating him. This is the best release not by the propellerheads from the wall of sound camp to date. The top 40 watch out, the wiseguys are here with a score to settle.
CJ Bolland:- It ain't gonna be me
The big tune to come out of the forthcoming film, Human Traffic (The one with Carl Cox in it!). This starts off with some truly funky guitar strumming, and then rocks it down with some wicked, heavy beats. The arrangement is simple, but ooh that is the beauty of it. This is yet another big beat tune, but that is because big beat has just started to become noticed. Funky, Simple, Crowd pleasing, what more could you ask for in a tune?
